What each part affirms

  • Wahdahu la sharika lah — alone, without partner in worship, lordship or names.
  • Lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamd — all ownership and all praise belong to Him.
  • Yuhyi wa yumit — He alone gives life and death.
  • Hayyun la yamut — the Living who never dies, unlike every creature.
  • Dhul-jalali wal-ikram — Lord of Majesty and Honour (a divine name to plead by).
  • Bi yadihil-khair — all good is in His hand.

Learn it after the third kalima and continue to the fifth kalima.
