The four pairs it covers

  • Amadan aw khata’an — deliberate or mistaken.
  • Sirran aw alaniyah — secret or open.
  • Alladhi a’lam / la a’lam — sins you remember and sins you forgot.
  • Then three names: Allamul-ghuyub (Knower of unseen), Sattarul-uyub (Concealer of faults), Ghaffarudh-dhunub (Forgiver of sins).

Recite it slowly, meaning each pair — then continue to the sixth kalima.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What is the fifth kalima?

Astaghfar: seeking forgiveness for every sin — deliberate or mistaken, secret or open, known or unknown.

Why mention sins I don't know?

Because heedlessness hides many sins. The comprehensive wording leaves no category unrepented — the safest istighfar.

How does it end?

With three divine names — Knower of the unseen, Concealer of faults, Forgiver of sins — and La hawla, admitting change needs His power.
