Ushr Explained

Ushr (“a tenth”) is simply the agricultural zakat under another name. For numbers, use the calculator; this page is the ruling reference.

  • Rate: 10% for naturally watered produce, 5% for artificially irrigated, 7.5% for mixed (hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari).
  • Due at harvest — no lunar-year waiting period (Qur’an 6:141).
  • Threshold: commonly 5 wasq (≈653 kg); exact weight and application differ.
  • Crop scope: staple storable crops per some schools, all produce per others.
  • Calculate it: open the Agriculture Zakat tool for the interactive version.
